0ur dining room is the first room you enter when you walk through the front door. It sits immediately to the left through a large opening in the entryway. It then flows seamlessly into the living room through another opening. When we first toured the home, I knew I wanted to make the dining room a statement piece since it’s one of the first rooms you interact with.
Here’s a photo from our initial home tour:
Here’s what we’re planning for this room:
-
New floors.
First and foremost, all floors will be replaced with new Luxury Vinyl Planks (LVP). So, we’ll say goodbye to the warped hardwood floors and dingy old carpet, yay!
-
Statement feature wall.
I have fallen in love with those super fun feature walls I’ve seen all over Pinterest, so I most definitely will create one for the dining room! I’m thinking of painting it blue-grey?! Bold but not too bold… our walls are white, so any color will be a noticeable contrast.
-
Replace baseboard and window trim.
Since we’re planning a modern-industrial-rustic vibe for the house (is that a thing?), we will replace all the ornamental trim with a simple square profile instead!
-
Wood Accents.
For a fun touch, we plan to add stained wood planks along the vertical plane of our tray ceiling! I’m also thinking about adding faux beams for the headers above our openings; what do you think?
-
New Fixtures & Decor.
To top everything off, we’ll replace the boring chandelier with a new fixture and accessorize the room with pleated drapes, greenery, wood tones, and modern accent pieces!
